Neymar hat-trick inspires Santos

Santos had starlet Neymar to thank for their 4-1 come-from-behind victory over Botafogo in the Brazilian Campeonato Paulista.

After trailling 1-0 at half-time, Santos came out with renewed energy in the second stanza with Neymar leading the way. The Brazil international restored parity in the 77th minute before putting Santos ahead from the penalty spot a minute later.

Neymar then completed his hat-trick in the 90th minute before Felipe Anderson capped a stunning comeback by the visitors in the third minute of injury time.

Sao Paulo missed the chance to go top as they were held 1-1 by Comercial.

Sitting one point behind Palmeiras before the match, Sao Paulo appeared destined to move into first position on the table when Wilian Jose scored after four minutes. However, lowly Comercial pulled a goal back after the half-time interval to earn a share of the points.

Sao Caetano claimed a 2-1 victory over fourth-placed Paulista and Linense drew 1-1 in Oeste.

An own goal by Madureira’s Tiago Bruno gave Flamengo a 1-0 win over in their Brazilian Campeonato Carioca fixture.

Juventude picked up all three points as they defeated Avenida, while Lajeadense and Veranopolis played out a goalless draw.
